Artist statement

打一場漂亮的棋局，沒有誰願意捨棄任何一個棋子，它們都有自身的價值，只是在一切變局之中，往往身不由己。在階級制度下，憑渺小的身份如何捍衛公義？在背叛和犧牲的選擇背後，獲得的利益是個人，還是羣體的呢？

Playing a nice game of chess, no one is willing to give up any piece that has its own value, but the change in the situation among all is always involuntarily. Under bureaucracy, how do people with low-ranking to defend righteousness? Behind the decision of betrayal and sacrifice, the outcome benefits to individual or groups?

Change of the Name
《犠生》was original named as 《瞞生》, and now I took the same pronunciation with "犧牲" (Sacrifice) in Cantonese, took "犠" to replace "犧" as I want to do a fade out effect for the part of "義" (justice) in the character at the intro of the film.

Part II: Additional Scene
Due to the unsmooth of the scene changes, I will shoot one more scene/storyline for cutting in between the scenes of the main storyline.

The scene would be about a chess match, facing the aggressive attack of the Black, the White sacrificed many pieces to protect the King, and finally the White can get the chance to win.  

V.O. Script:

下棋，每走一步，都要費盡心思。聽說棋藝精湛的高手也控制不了棋局的最終結果，落子無悔

一個好的棋局必須要有完整的棋盤，黑白界線、王、后、車、象、馬、兵⋯

老師罵人：
當路被封死時，就要尋找另一條生路，在死局中找到能垂死掙扎的出口。

楠寫報告：戰士與蒼蠅
如果無求勝之念 這盤棋便失去意義
不管成敗如何 無怨無悔 至少曾為追求的理想而努力過

奕茹同學 駿：
人如棋子，當你是一枚棋子時，難免要聽從別人的擺布

奕茹楠：
有的人下棋，稍見情勢不秒便棄子投降
有的人下棋，不到最後一刻，決不認輸

遇上困局，勉強接受、退縮投降還是重新佈局

楠三明治：
關鍵時刻如果一步走錯，從此步步走錯，回頭已是不可能之事。

楠回家：
失去了參謀，孤獨的棋士只能一直往前，沒有回頭路


結尾：

面對殘局，假若一步失策，則滿盤皆輸⋯走一步算一步，甚至鋌而走險

棋局萬變、棋勢無定⋯棋子一個一個地離局而去，所剩下的愈少，便愈要小心翼翼地下

棋局是好還是壞，未走到最後也不會知道勝負
